Sacramento Kings swingman Bogdan Bogdanovic will become a restricted free agent next summer after not signing an extension with the franchise.
Bogdanovic has a qualifying offer worth $10,661,733 for the 2020-21 season. Once the Kings offer him that, Bogdanovic will enter restricted free agency.
Sacramento is off to a disappointing 0-4 start, causing some around the league to wonder if the franchise will look to make some moves.
Article Continues BelowOne anonymous general manager thinks the Kings could get a good return for Bogdanovic, but says Sacramento is currently not looking to move the 27-year-old:
“That’s not something they’re looking at too seriously now as far as anyone can tell,” the GM told Sean Deveney of Heavy. “They’re probably going to have to, but that’s not something to rush into. There would be a good market for Bogdanovic if they figure they can’t go far right now, but (the Kings) are still looking at how to make all of this work this season.”
Through the Kings' first four games of the season, Bogdanovic is averaging 8.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting a woeful 27.5 percent from the field, 31.6 percent from beyond the arc and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line.
The Kings still have plenty of time to turn this thing around. However, if they continue to struggle, Sacramento could look to move Bogdanovic. The New York Knicks are mentioned as a team that would be interested in him if he becomes available.
