Rudy Gay's inevitable trade from the Sacramento Kings might not be the only move the team makes.

Which point guards make the roster could influence what happens with a Gay trade. There's also a chance one of the two-guards on the roster gets shipped out. All before the start of the season.

Via the Sacramento Bee:

A decision about which point guards make the roster could be tied to a trade of Gay, the starting small forward the Kings unsuccessfully shopped during the offseason, according to multiple league sources. Gay told the team he will opt out of the final year of his contract after this season, forcing the Kings to continue pursuing a trade or risk losing him for nothing next summer.

Sacramento also has made shooting guard Ben McLemore, in the final year of his rookie contract, available for months, after acquiring Malachi Richardson in a draft-day deal and signing veteran Arron Afflalo.

Things sure are changing up in Sactown.

Kings fans are definitely prepared for Gay leaving town and have been for awhile now. The additions of Afflalo and Richardson should have them OK with McLemore possibly leaving as well.

The point guard situation is interesting. Darren Collison is clearly the starter, although he will miss some games early on with a suspension, and then there's Jordan Farmar, Ty Lawson and Isaiah Cousins on non-guaranteed deals.

It seems like in searching for a trade partner for Gay, Sacramento will be hoping to receive a point guard back in the deal. The Kings need to act fast if they want to get anything done before the season, which is rapidly approaching.
