The highly competitive Game 1 matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors on Sunday was overshadowed by one controversial play that a lot of people have been talking about. Kawhi Leonard was forced to miss parts of the third quarter, and the entire fourth period, after reaggravating his ankle sprain, when he landed landed on Zaza Pachulia‘s foot, who undercut him on a three-point attempt.

When asked if he feels the Georgian international tried to purposely hurt him, Leonard said he doesn't think that's the case, and that he only challenged him with the shot clock running out.

Leonard's absence late in the game proved to be crucial as the Spurs squandered a huge lead and ultimately lost, 113-111. He is scheduled to undergo a series of tests, including an x-ray, as well as an MRI, to check for any structural damage on his ankle. Should he be forced to miss some games, it will be a huge blow to his team that's already playing without another starter, Tony Parker, who is out for the remainder of the postseason due to a quad injury.

The NBA is also expected to review the much talked about incident and will decide if Pachulia made a dirty play or not. Should they deem it as intentionally trying to cause an injury to the star forward, he may be slapped with a fine or even a suspension from the league office.
