San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich didn't agree with how the fans treated Kawhi Leonard of the Toronto Raptors in his return.

Per Jabari Young of The Athletic, Popovich confessed that he “felt badly about” the boos the Leonard received:

Leonard got boos from the San Antonio crowd every time he got the ball and it seemingly got louder when the Spurs played a tribute video of him and Danny Green. It was an unexpected antic from the San Antonio fans who are known for their classy behavior.

The Spurs won convincingly, 125-107. LaMarcus Aldridge led the way with 23 points. DeMar DeRozan was not far behind with 21 points, along with 14 rebounds and 11 assists. This was the first triple-double of his career.

Leonard, for his part, had 21 points. It's way below his of 27.3 points per game. Did the boos affect his game or were the Spurs simply successful in locking him down?

Either way, the real story is the San Antonio fans and their behavior. It is evident that they haven't moved on from the drama and controversy that led the Leonard trade. Their antics were understandable, only up to a certain extent. But Popovich's words suggest that they should've behaved otherwise.
