LaMarcus Aldridge's 56-point game marks the first time a San Antonio Spurs player dropped over 50 since Tony Parker scored 55 against the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2008.

For Parker that game, he also had seven rebounds, and 10 assists. He shot 22-of-36 from the field and 9-of-10 from behind the charity stripe.

This performance was, no pun intended, spurred on by San Antonio's three-game losing streak to kick off the season. They lost to the Phoenix Suns, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Orlando Magic by a total of 23 points. This was very unlike the Spurs, so Parker took responsibility into his own hands to lead the team and carry them to victory.

On the flip side, the modern day Spurs have been on quite the hot streak. They had won five out of their last six contests and everything seemed to be clicking. The offense ran through DeMar DeRozan and Aldridge worked like a charm. Gregg Popovich once again has a solid two-star tandem to work with.

The Spurs ended up winning the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder by a score of 154-147 in double overtime. Aldridge's points total was a career-high. He also had nine rebounds, four assists, and four blocks while shooting 20-of-33 from the field. DeRozan added 16 points, eight rebounds, and 11 assists as well.

For the Thunder, Russell Westbrook had a spectacular game himself. He dropped a triple-double with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and a monstrous 24 assists. Paul George had added 30 points, and Jerami Grant had 25.

The Spurs are now 25-18 on the season and sit seventh in the NBA's Western Conference.
