Rookie point guard Ben Simmons has been ruled out of the Philadelphia 76ers’ upcoming game against the Orlando Magic on Saturday due to a sore left elbow, per NBA insider David Aldridge.
Aldridge reports that Simmons experienced the soreness after the Sixers’ win over the Portland Trail Blazers and that he will be re-evaluated on Sunday.
After missing the entirety of last year due to a broken foot, this will be the first game Simmons misses this season.

With Simmons out, it’ll be interesting who head coach Brett Brown turns to at the starting point guard slot against the Magic. Veteran Jerryd Bayless has only just returned to the lineup after missing six games due to a wrist injury. He had started the first seven games of the season before being replaced in the starting five by Dario Saric.
However, backup point guard T.J. McConnell has proven to be a more consistent playmaker than Bayless this season and is coming off a strong 13-point, seven-assist outing against the Blazers.
