Since his debut in the NBA, Joel Embiid has proved the haters wrong and excelled as one of the league's most promising young stars. In fact, Embiid is the first player from the 2014 NBA Draft to make an All-Star game appearance. This is an incredible accomplishment, mainly since Embiid only made his debut in 2016.

This fan appears to reference Sam Hinkie for drafting Embiid. The decision at the time was met with much criticism, primarily since Embiid was constantly injured after the draft. As a matter of fact, according to Sports Illustrated, Hinkie had a rough time dealing with the criticism and soon resigned because of his fallen confidence in his job.
Article Continues BelowThe most controversial of those selections was Embiid, the third overall pick in 2014, who has yet to appear in an NBA game. Multiple foot surgeries stemming from an injury that occurred six days prior to his draft selection have kept him off the floor. Another criticism of the Sixers’ decision-making came after Okafor was involved in several off-court incidents early this season, after which some posited that the team lacked veteran leadership to guide its young talent.
Obviously now, Embiid's previous critics have been proven wrong. The 7'0 footer has been healthy this season and he is playing good basketball for the 76ers as their franchise star. No one actually believed that Embiid would make it to where he is now, other than Hinkie, but now that he solidified his first All-Star selection, the sky seems to be the limit. Hopefully, Embiid can build upon this success as he moves forward in his career.
