When Joel Embiid suffered a concussion and an eye injury, they hoped that he would be back in two weeks and in time for the playoffs, but that still seems in up the air after the 76ers latest release.

According to the release, Embiid had successful eye surgery last Saturday and doctors are pleased with how the injury is healing.

In terms of the concussion, Embiid was cleared by an independent neurologist so it's now just down to his eye on when he can return to play. Unfortunately for the 76ers though, they still don't have any idea when that will be as it all depends on how his eye reacts.

The 76ers currently sit in the 4th spot in the Eastern Conference, but with a win against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night, they could move into the 3rd spot, which would be huge because they could avoid the Toronto Raptors until the Eastern Conference Finals.

For Embiid, he is the key for the 76ers making a run in the playoffs. In 63 games this year, he has averaged 22.9 points, 11 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He is also shooting 48.3 percent from the field, and 30.8 percent from long range.

He is such a mismatch inside that he makes life tough all around for defenders. He also really opens up the floor for the rest of the 76ers like Ben Simmons and Dario Saric to operate.
