The country once again experienced an act of violence that happened on Sunday at Sutherland Springs, just outside of San Antonio, Texas. At least 26 people were killed in the shooting incident that occurred in a church, including 23 victims who were inside at that time, as 26-year-old Comal County native Devin Kelly opened fire. The gunman was later found dead inside his car following a pursuit, according to Oren Dorell of USA TODAY.

Throughout his career, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich has never been shy to speak his mind and give his take on different issues. On Sunday, that was the case once again, as he elected not to talk about his team's win against the Phoenix Suns, but rather wanted to address the unfortunate incident that happened earlier in the day.

“We won a basketball game. But considering what’s gone on today, it’s pretty meaningless. When you think about the tragedy that those families are suffering, it’s just inconceivable and impossible to put your head around. So I think talking about basketball tonight is probably pretty inappropriate. You guys have a good night.”

Members of the NBA community have been known to be more active in different social issues the world is facing these days. They are using their statures, and the game of basketball, to promote awareness as well as positive change. Players and even coaches are expected to take to their social media accounts to voice out their disapproval of such acts, with the hopes of preventing similar incidents to happen again in the future.

For what its worth, the Spurs won their second straight game and are now back to their winning ways. They currently have a 6-4 record, after uncharacteristically losing four consecutive matches, following their 4-0 start to the season. They will play their next game on Tuesday, when they visit the L.A. Clippers, as they look to extend their current winning streak.
