The San Antonio Spurs have once again managed to fly under the radar in the 2017-18 NBA season. Despite the absence of superstar forward Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs currently sit at 17-8, good for third place in the powerhouse Western Conference.

San Antonio received good news with the two-time Defensive Player of the Year finally expected to make his season debut. However, veteran shooting guard Manu Ginobili is still concerned about the adjustments the team will have to make upon Leonard's return, according to Tom Orsborn of mysanantonio.com:

“As I thought before and I still think, it is going to take a little bit of an adjustment to see how (Leonard) is doing, to wait until he gets into his rhythm and to re-balance the team,” Ginobili said. “I don't know how long it is going to take. But for sure we need him if we want to have hopes of being the last team standing.”

As with any player, it may take some time for Leonard to get his feet under him after nursing a quad injury throughout the year. Although his prowess on defense has been well-noted, the two-time All-star has also become a force to be reckoned with on offense.

The Spurs have largely relied on a balanced scoring attack in Leonard's absence. That said, it remains to be seen how long before he takes on his initial workload. The two-time member of the All-NBA first team is reportedly set to return next Tuesday versus the lowly Dallas Mavericks.
