Jeremy Lin says he's safely returned to China to finish off the rest of the Chinese Basketball Association season. Lin is averaging 24.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game in 30 games for the Beijing Ducks.

The CBA suspended play in January. But Lin and other American players are returning to finish the season with a truncated schedule and other possible temporary alterations.

Lin has been holed up in the Bay Area while the sports world—and beyond—came to a hiatus during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Harvard alum shared words of appreciation for medical staffs around the country.

“Excited to hoop again, but leaving the bay worried and with a heavy heart for the sick, the jobless and all those fighting fear, anxiety and stress over the unknown future. Shoutout to our medical staff in the 50 states for working tirelessly and everyone keep doing your part in slowing the virus!

He also took a moment to note the importance of his fans—and the game of basketball—in trying times such as these.

“The world needs basketball now more than ever. I still remember when I went through my toughest moments and worst injuries. You guys were there for me. I hope to return the favor. As all you beloved fans told me the day after my knee injury, keep fighting bc we’re #NeverDone.”

Lin, 31, last played in the NBA in the 2018-19 season. He split time between the Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors—ultimately winning his first NBA championship with the Raps.
