Toronto Raptors guard Norman Powell is reportedly drawing significant attention ahead of the trade deadline. He is likely to be moved as he is only making $11 million this season and will possibly decline his player option to test the waters in the coming offseason.
Amid the buzz, the New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers have been reportedly vocal about their desires to land the services of the 27-year-old swingman.
Via Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report:
“The Knicks have popped up again in these conversations. “He's the perfect Tom Thibodeau player,” said one team official. It also seems well known in league circles that the Cavaliers asked for Powell in their conversations with the Raptors about sending Andre Drummond to Toronto.”
Several other teams are also throwing their names in the Norman Powell sweepstakes leading up to March 25.

“Dallas, Boston, Minnesota, Detroit and Atlanta have all been linked to Powell discussions as the deadline draws closer, sources said. “I think there's probably a 75 percent chance he gets moved,” said one team capologist”
Powell is currently averaging 19.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists through 40 appearances this season. His biggest asset is his efficiency in shot-making as he is currently shooting 49.6% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc.
The Raptors have definitely benefited from his stellar production but it hasn't been quite enough to lift the Toronto-based squad back to the playoff picture. Their struggles have been evident as they're currently on an eight-game losing skid to amass a 17-25 record for the 11th spot in the Eastern Conference.
Amid the high interest from many teams in the league, it will be difficult to determine which organization would successfully secure the veteran guard for the remainder of the season. With his improved play this season, Norman Powell will definitely carve a vital role on any team in the league, whether as a starter or as a reliever coming off the bench.
