Kawhi Leonard's college teammate, LaBradford Franklin, says the Toronto Raptors star always told people at San Diego State he was Michael Jordan and wanted to be “the greatest.”

Franklin says Leonard would watch Jordan highlights with another teammate for four or five hours a day. Kawhi also had Jordan as his phone background.

“On his phone, his background was Michael Jordan,” Franklin told Jayson Jenks of The Athletic. “He would always say, ‘I’m Mike. You like LeBron, you like Kobe? Yeah, they’re cool, but I’m Mike. I want to be the best, the greatest.' And from how he carried himself, we knew he was serious. We knew that’s what he really wanted.”

During the Raptors' 2019 playoff run, Leonard has drawn comparisons to His Airness. Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers said last week Leonard is the closest thing we have seen to Jordan.

Leonard and the Raptors are tied with the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals at 1-1. The three-time All-Star is averaging 30.9 points in the postseason while shooting 49.6 percent from the field.

Leonard already has a Finals MVP on his résumé. Now, Kawhi will look to add to his legacy by delivering the first title in franchise history to the Raptors.
