The Toronto Raptors offense is centered around superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard, and the three-time All-Star relishes the opportunity of being the main option on offense.

During his early days with the San Antonio Spurs, Leonard was playing with three future Hall of Famers in Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Leonard wasn't the superstar player he is now when he was coming up with the Spurs, but Kawhi says being put into a box when you first come into the league is a hard adjustment to make for any player.

With the Raptors, Leonard is thoroughly enjoying living out his childhood dream of “being able to shoot the ball 20 times a game.”

“Obviously, it's a lot more fun when you're getting plays called for you and you're able to live your childhood dream in being able to shoot the ball 20 times a game,” Leonard said, via Tim Bontemps of ESPN. “The offense is coming toward you, rather than just being out there doing one job. Because when you first come in as a rookie, unless you're like a top-10 player, you're really not going to touch the floor a whole lot, or get the offense run through you.

“That kind of throws you off, or for me just like puts you in a box somewhat. You have to figure out a way to have fun. Like I said, being a child, I didn't envision myself just being in a box in the NBA. But once that time comes, I feel like you're just having more fun and you're able to experience the game and grow as a player, making plays, seeing double-teams and finding other guys. It just gets more fun. You're able to do a lot more.”

During the 2019 playoffs, Leonard has been nothing short of spectacular for the Raptors, who are up 1-0 on the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. Kawhi is averaging 30.7 points while shooting 50.1 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from beyond the arc.

For the Raptors to win their first ever NBA championship, they will need to continue to ride the Leonard train.
