The Toronto Raptors have a lot of talent on their roster, which means point guard Kyle Lowry doesn't need to play hero-ball anymore.

With Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green and Marc Gasol in the mix and Pascal Siakam turning into a budding star, Lowry's role with the team has changed from a leadership and selflessness standpoint.

“I mean it wasn’t really a role change. It was that Pascal got that good and he’s playing that well. With Danny and Kawhi and Marc (Gasol), the role has changed in the sense of leadership and more selflessness,” Lowry told Doug Smith of the Toronto Star.

“Not shooting 20 times a game — and having to be more … efficient is probably the better word — but not going out there and just jacking up shots because we can always get a better shot.”

Leonard is the best player on the Raptors. The team is going to go as far as he can take them in the postseason.

Kyle Lowry, though, is the emotional leader on the Raptors and the brick the Toronto team leans on.

When Lowry is playing well, the Raptors win. When Lowry struggles like he did in Game 1 against the Orlando Magic — during which he failed to score a point — the team loses.

Toronto will face the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round of the playoffs. Lowry will need to play like the All-Star he is if the Raptors want to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
