Some people have considered Kyle Lowry a possible trade piece for the Toronto Raptors with the NBA trade deadline approaching. Despite Lowry being a player who could draw interest on the trade market, the Raptors have no plans of trading Lowry, per TSN's Josh Lewenberg.

Whenever the Raptors got off to a slow start to the season, Lowry's name became thrown around in trade rumors around the league. Seeing that Lowry is a free agent after the 2020-2021 season, it would make sense if Toronto would trade him before there's a chance for him to leave without them getting anything in return.

After a decent surge in February, the Raptors have lost six games in a row, giving them a dismal 17-23 record. Altogether, Toronto has lost eight of their past 10 games, putting them as the No. 11 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Even though things are beginning to look dire for the Raptors, they want to hang onto Lowry for the rest of the season. However, Lewenberg shares that Norman Powell could be a player that Toronto uses as a trade piece in the coming days due to his recent high level of play.

Lowry, who turns 35 years old next week, could no longer be in the long-term plans for the Raptors, especially with the team re-signing Fred VanVleet ahead of this season. And with Powell being 27 years old and showing potential with an increased role, you would think Toronto would want to keep him moving forward. With the Raptors attempting to make massive ground in the playoff race, they aren't showing any signs of moving on from Lowry.
