There's no hotter team in basketball right now than the Toronto Raptors. With Wednesday's 119-118 win against the Indiana Pacers, Toronto has now won a franchise-record 12 straight games.

This season's iteration of the team matches up well with last year's squad that went on to win the NBA Championship led by superstar Kawhi Leonard. In 208-19, the the Canadian franchise was 36-15 through the first 51 games of the season. This 2019-20, they are 37-14 and currently sit as the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

While the Raptors are still 6.5 games behind the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks, their 12-game winning streak has vaulted them to the third-best record in all the NBA.

That streak almost came to a close on Wednesday as Toronto actually trailed the Pacers by four points going into the game's final quarter. The Nick Nurse-led squad was able to pull out the win, thanks to 87 combined points by the trio of Kyle Lowry, Pascal Siakam and Serge Ibaka.

The streak started on Jan. 15 when the Raps defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder, 130-121.

Interestingly, the Raptors will once again face the Pacers if they want to keep their win streak alive. The two team's meet for their second-straight game against each other on Friday, Feb. 7.

Toronto's success is even more impressive considering they lost Leonard to the Los Angeles Clippers in the offseason. Leonard was unquestionably the best player on the Raptors' roster last season and with him out of the picture, the reigning champions wer expected to be a good but not great team in the Eastern Conference.

Instead, the Raptors — led by fourth-year forward Pascal Siakam — are looking like they can compete with just about anyone on a night-to-night basis.
