In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the Toronto Raptors held a lead for all 48 minutes until the game reached overtime, where the Cleveland Cavaliers got their first lead on a Kyle Korver top-of-the0-key triple. The Cavaliers eventually won the game, leaving the Raptors and their fans stunned.

While that game was ending, the Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans game had just tipped off. According to Marcus Thompson of The Athletic, who covers the Warriors, there were members of the media in Oracle Arena's media room that laughed at the Raptors expense.

The laughter was born out of a knowledge that despite holding the lead for most of the game, Cleveland was never really out of it. On top of that, the Raptors have a bit of a history with the Cavs, losing to them in six games in 2016 and then being swept last postseason.

While the Cavs may have LeBron James, the Raptors have been the best team in the Eastern Conference all season long. The Cavaliers, however, have struggled for most of the season, and many though this would be the year Toronto would take Cleveland down.

While it is just one game out of a possible seven, Game 1 showcased the Raptors' inability to close. There is also a tendency to overreact to a single loss or victory and everything would change if the Raptors were to win two straight and reclaim home court advantage. However, the missed shots and careless turnovers down the stretch, including a five-second violation in the fourth quarter late in the fourth quarter, just can't happen if you're the Raptors.

The Raptors will have a chance to get on track with a Game 2 victory on Thursday evening at 6PM EST.
