Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry reportedly believes his departure from the team is imminent.
Ryen Russillo of The Ringer said on the latest episode of the “Bill Simmons Podcast” the Raptors guard has been telling people he expects to be traded:
“The word on that is that Lowry has been telling everybody for a month that he’s getting traded, which is interesting that he’s already like ‘yeah, I’m out of here,'” Russillo said, via Fadeaway World. “So I don’t know if that’s him saying it, I don’t know if that’s some understanding that he has with the front office, I don’t know that part of it but whenever you ask about Lowry, he thinks he’s leaving. I think they should trade him, by the way.”
Lowry is having an excellent year for the Raptors.

The 34-year-old is averaging 18.0 points, 7.0 assists and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 40.3 percent from beyond the arc on 7.1 attempts per game. But there is reason to believe Toronto will move him ahead of the March 25 deadline.
Lowry is on an expiring contract. The Raptors (17-19) are barely clinging to a playoff spot and may be better off transitioning to a new era. Toronto signed Fred VanVleet to a four-year deal this past offseason, and guards like Terence Davis and Malachi Flynn figure to eventually plug minutes in the backcourt.
It is entirely possible the Raptors move Lowry to get future value. Any number of contending teams could show interest, including the likes of the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, or Lowry's hometown Philadelphia 76ers.
In any event, Lowry believes it is just a matter of time before he is playing elsewhere.
