Kyle Lowry's future in the NBA is going to be decided within the next few days. As it turns out, he might actually be leaving the Toronto Raptors.

Rumors have been rife about a looming trade for the veteran point guard, and despite his own indication of his desire to stay in Toronto, it appears that a move away from the Raptors might still be forthcoming for Lowry.

In a recent episode of ESPN's Briand Windhorst & The Hoops Collective podcast, NBA insider Briand Windhorst stated that at the moment, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat have emerged as Lowry's two other primary suitors:

“I was talking to a GM this morning, and he basically described it as this: Kyle Lowry’s free agency is happening right now,” Windhorst said, via HoopsHype. “The expectation is that Kyle Lowry will have a new contract by the end of this week. It’s either gonna be to stay in Toronto, whether it’s signed or an understanding that that’s gonna happen. It’s going to be Miami or it’s going to be Philadelphia. Those are the three options that the expectation is out there.”

Right now, it appears that Toronto still remains to be the frontrunners to retain the services of the six-time All-Star, and this is primarily because he wants to stay. However, the Sixers have been heavily linked to a swoop for the 34-year-old. On the other hand, the Heat are also considered a favorite to land Lowry, considering how his friendship with Jimmy Butler is reportedly a significant factor here.

It's going to be a very busy next few days for Toronto's front office as they make their decision on Lowry. Whatever direction they intend to take here will give us an idea of how the Raptors plan to attack the remainder of the 2020-21 campaign.
