The Toronto Raptors have acquired the rights and plan to sign sharp-shooting Baylor alum Brady Heslip, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

A Toronto native, Heslip played with Pallacanestro Cantu of the Italian Serie A Basketball League in 2015-16, averaging 12.7 points while shooting 45.8 percent in 26.9 minutes of action.

He's also played for the Canadian National Team at the 2015 Pan-American Games and at the FIBA Americas Championship.

Heslip is a dead-eye three-point shooter, which has proven to be his ticket into an NBA roster. He set a D-League record in 2014 with 13 threes made in a game en route to a career-high 45 points against Idaho.

The 6-foot-2 shooting guard played three seasons at Baylor University, averaging 11.7 points while shooting 46.5 percent from deep as a senior in 2013-14. More than 85 percent of his field goal attempts were from beyond the arc.

The Raptors traded the rights to Ronald Roberts to the Reno Bighorns in order to acquire the rights to Heslip. Their new acquisition should give the team another threat from deep as he could potentially carve a niche in the rotation if the team faces injuries at the guard position.
