Utah Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell has simply been amazing this season. And he continues to blow people’s minds in the playoffs, where he is effectively spearheading what is developing to be an unlikely deep postseason run for the Jazz nearly a year after their former face of the franchise ditched them for greener pastures in Beantown.

Mitchell has been like a Tasmanian Devil for Utah this postseason with their opponents having a hard time figuring out a way to stop the former Louisville Cardinals standout. When Mitchell manufactured 17 points during Tuesday’s 116-108 win over the Houston Rockets that tied their Western Conference semifinals series at 1-1, the 21-year-old scoring machine became the third-fastest rookie to score 200 points in the playoffs as he managed to reach the mark in only eight games – tied with Los Angeles Lakers legend Elgin Baylor.

Only Wilt Chamberlain (seven games) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (six games) reached the mark faster than Mitchell did. Imagine that.

Mitchell has done most of the damage in the playoffs in the first round against the Oklahoma City Thunder. In that series—which lasted six games—Mitchell averaged 28.5 points on a 46.2 field goal shooting percentage. In Game 6 against the Thunder, Mitchell made sure that there would be no need for a Game 7 by dropping 38 points, 22 in the pivotal third quarter, to help send the Jazz into the second round.

Mitchell and the Jazz now shift their focus for Game 3 of the Rockets series at home, where Utah has been undefeated in seven games going back to the regular season.
