Mitchell Sr. last saw his son a week before his positive diagnosis, as he watched live on Madison Square Garden when the Jazz took on the New York Knicks on March 4. All NBA teams who played the Jazz within the last 10 days were mandated to self-quarantine.

It is believed that the young Mitchell got the virus from Gobert, who was reportedly mocking the illness by touching his teammates and their belongings before he was tested positive.
Another report, however, revealed that the two-time All-Star also visited the Encore Boston Casino on March 5, where one guest also tested positive for the virus. It still remains unclear which Jazz player infected who.
The NBA, meanwhile, made the right call of canceling the games altogether to avoid having more players contracting the virus. The league dodged a major bullet when test results from the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, and New York Knicks all came back negative. The Jazz played all these teams in the last 10 days prior to the suspension.
