Utah Jazz point guard Rubio could not join his teammates on the floor for Tuesday night’s Game 2 the series with the Houston Rockets because of a nagging hamstring issue, but it’s not going to stop him from lending his support to the Rookie of the Year candidacy of his backcourt partner and teammate Donovan Mitchell.

See, Ricky Rubio arrived at Toyota Center in Houston Tuesday wearing a highly suggestive piece of clothing, one that Mitchell has worn before.

That’s the same hoodie that Donovan Mitchell rocked last month prior to a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was an apparent dig at Philadelphia 76ers rookie Ben Simmons, who was drafted in 2016 but is eligible to win the 2017-18 Rookie of the Year honors after sitting out the entire 2016-17 campaign because of an injury. Obviously, for Mitchell and Rubio, Simmons had the unfair advantage of having to learn the ropes in the pros for an entire year simply by being with the Sixers even though he did not play at all in his first year in the league, technically speaking.

Rubio has not played since hurting his hamstring in Game 6 of the first-round series against the Oklahoma City Thunder. So far in these playoffs, he has been averaging 14.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game. For the meantime, Mitchell will shoulder most of the burden in Utah’s backcourt.

Rubio’s next chance to return to action will come this Friday at home for Game 3 of the second round against the Houston Rockets.
