Kevin Durant is an All-Star again, this time playing on LeBron James’ team for the first time in his career. As great an honor as it is for him to be selected to play in the All-Star Game for the ninth time in his career, Durant is likely done participating in the Saturday events.
According to The Athletic’s Anthony Slater, “No All-Star Saturday events for Kevin Durant this season and likely ever again, he says: ‘I take that day to myself.’”

The former NBA MVP joined the Three-point Contest in 2011 and 2012 but wasn’t able to bring home the trophy. He came close, though. Despite not making it out of the first round in 2011, Durant came back the following year and finished as a runner-up to Kevin Love.

Durant won the All-Star Game MVP in 2012 when he recorded 36 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals. He is currently third all-time in scoring, averaging 25.0 points per game in the midseason classic and is slowly climbing up the all-time total points mark as well. With 200 points total, Durant is currently number 10 on the list, possibly moving further up the ladder to as high as number six depending on his performance this February.
Needless to say, All-Star Saturday is a day off for Durant so he can prepare himself for Sunday.
