Golden State Warriors star point guard Steph Curry is regarded as one of the best, if not the best, shooter in NBA history. Unfortunately, his prowess will not be on display at this year's ultimate shootout.

For the second straight year, Curry has decided not to participate in the 3-point contest during 2018 NBA All-Star weekend. However, he did give a compelling reason as to why according to ESPN's Chris Haynes:

Stephen Curry tells ESPN he will not participate in 3-Point Contest this year, but says he’s not retired from the event. “Think about why,” he said. Next year it’s in Charlotte.

This year's festivities were initially supposed to be held in Curry's native of Charlotte, North Carolina. However, it was switched to next year after the NBA's discrepancy with the state's former laws.

As a result, it seems the former 3-Point Champ will not be taking part in this year's contest. Curry won in 2015 by blowing out the competition with an incredible 27-point performance. However, his title defense came up short after ultimately losing the next year to his fellow “Splash Brother” in shooting guard Klay Thompson. The Warriors star has not competed in the 3-Point Contest since.
It seems Curry would rather wait one more year for the festivities to go to Charlotte. It goes without saying that the hometown player always has a bit of added motivation when it comes to All-Star Weekend events. With Curry possibly looking to take back his crown in 2019, that means this year's participants better take full advantage while the game's best shooter is still on a hiatus.
