On February 27, 2014, President Barack Obama said, “That’s what ‘My Brother’s Keeper’ is all about. Helping more of our young people stay on track. Providing the support they need to think more broadly about their future. Building on what works – when it works, in those critical life-changing moments.”
The initiative was founded by Obama in 2014 and was sponsored by the White House, the United States Department of Education, and the National Convening Council, during his term.

In 2016, Curry encouraged young men to take on the responsibility of becoming mentors in a series of public service announcements with the former president.
Ahead of the Wizards game, the Warriors toured a number of local children to the National Museum of African American History and Culture on Tuesday.
In the video, Curry added that the shoes will be auctioned off after the game and all proceeds will go to My Brother’s Keeper. There will likely be more announcements regarding the shoe’s availability and when it will be auctioned after the game.
The Warriors prevailed over the Wizards, 109-101, with Stephen Curry notching 25 points, five rebounds, and three assists. While his helpers total did not stand out and can even be considered as sub-par, his biggest assist was actually after the game itself.
