The Golden State Warriors have become an offensive juggernaut over the last few seasons behind the stellar play of their star core group.
It has continued on this trajectory this season with their three All-Stars in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant leading the way. According to Huge Kitano of SB Nation, each of these players are actually near the rare feat of shooting at least 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range, and 90 percent from the free throw line.
Article Continues BelowThis year, three Warriors are closing in on the benchmarks. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Kevin Durant are three of the best shooters and scorers in the league, and the fact that teammates might achieve this distinction is ridiculous.
Since the NBA first began using the 3-point shot in the 1979-80 season, only seven players have reached the 50-40-90 mark in league history that includes Curry, Durant, Larry Bird, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Mark Price, and Reggie Miller. It is clearly a difficult feat for any player to reach let alone three on the same team in the same season.
Stephen Curry is currently hitting 48.5 percent from the field while shooting 40.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 93.4 percent from the free throw line. Kevin Durant is right around these numbers as well shooting 50.2 percent from the field, 39.5 percent from 3-point range, and 89.1 percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Klay Thompson is shooting 48.4 percent from the field, 45 percent from beyond the arc, and 88.5 percent from the charity stripe.
Although each of these players is near those marks, the most challenging part will be shooting from the field and 3-point range that will move back and forth around these numbers throughout the season. As the season rolls along, it will be interesting to see if any or all can accomplish that rare feat.
