While many stars around the league are jetting to prominent locations, John Wall has chosen to stay put.
Plenty All-Star-caliber players have moved on to play alongside fellow star players, but Wall has made the Washington Wizards his home, and for that, he was rewarded with a hefty four-year, $170 million extension last month.
“I think a lot of players want to be in a certain place,” Wall told Michael Lee of The Vertical. “Who wouldn’t want to be in L.A.? Who wouldn’t want to be in Miami? Those are amazing cities. Well, I’m in one of the best cities you want to be, in D.C. So I’m fine.”
His extension should keep him in Washington D.C. until 2023, a long spell that would allow the dime wizard to put together a deep playoff run after the team extended Bradley Beal last season and re-signed Otto Porter Jr. after matching an offer sheet from the Brooklyn Nets.

Wall has a lofty $207 million going into his bank account during the next few years, a hefty sum that is likely to set him up for life if he cares for his wallet wisely.
“My kids’ kids’ kids should be fine,” Wall said smiling.
While Wall has stayed with the team that drafted him, many of his 2010 draft mates have switched places, including DeMarcus Cousins, Paul George, Avery Bradley, and most-notably Gordon Hayward.
“That’s crazy, it’s shocking to me,” Wall said. “You never know where you can be, anything can happen. I’m just glad I can be one of those guys that can say, ‘I’m still here.’ My ultimate goal is to try to be one of those guys that play my whole career with one team.”
