John Wall of the Washington Wizards will try to be with his team as close as possible and intends to rehab from heel surgery in the nation's capital alongside his teammates.

Chase Hughes of NBCS Washington reported the news first on Monday afternoon.

The 28-year-old Wall will be out for the season as he's set to miss the next six to eight months after a procedure to remove bone spurs in his left heel and to repair his Achilles tendon. According to him, he's been dealing with the bone spurs for the last four to five years. This season, it just got to an unbearable point.

At this point in time, the only recourse is to go under the needle. Wall added:

“It's to the point where I can't play through it anymore, unless I want to tear my Achilles,” Wall said. “That's not what I'm trying to do. I'll take the shorter process of taking six-to-eight months instead of taking 15-to-20 months.”

This will be the second straight season that Wall has played less than half of his team's games. Last year, he only played in 41. This year, he'll finish it having just played in 32 games. The Wizards will have to find more production from other players to fill the void that Wall will leave. He averages 20.2 points per game, 8.7 assists, and 1.5 steals in 34.5 minutes.
