Denver Nuggets president of basketball operations Tim Connelly reportedly doesn't want to have an interview with the Washington Wizards and instead prefers an offer to come without a meeting, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic.

The Wizards are looking for a new general manager after firing Ernie Grunfeld.

Connelly worked for the Wizards for a decade before leaving in 2010 to become the assistant general manager of the Pelicans. He’s been with Denver since 2013.

Since departing Washington, Connelly has privately told people that running the Wizards would be his “dream job”. But he does not actually want to interview for the gig, according to sources. Instead, he’d prefer an offer to come without a meeting.

Sources say he would not leave during the Nuggets’ playoff push. For now, VP of basketball operations Tommy Sheppard is running Washington’s show in the interim.

The Nuggets signed Connelly to an extension a few months ago. Denver is currently in the second round of the playoffs.

The Wizards missed the postseason this year. All-Star point guard John Wall only played in 32 games. He underwent heel and Achilles surgery. Wall's supermax contract kicks in next season. It's unknown if he will play at all in 2019-20.
