Washington Wizards superstar point guard John Wall recently blasted teammates for their selfishness against teams under.500. The most recent example came with their disappointing loss to the lowly Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.

As a result, head coach Scott Brooks chimed in on Wall's criticisms of the team's performance. While he did not confirm the four-time All-Star's comments, he did not necessarily deny them either, according to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post:

“I wouldn’t say that we’re a selfish team but I think there are times we have been and we need to get better with that. We've lost some tough games. Our players have talked about it. I've talked about it with them.”

Brooks added that there are no lingering hard feelings over Wall's comments.

“It is what it is. We can’t change what’s taken place but we can move forward and keep moving forward. I still believe in all our guys. I know that we have to play better against teams that don’t have good records but just because we say it doesn’t mean we’re going to all of a sudden do it. We got to be able to do it with our actions.”

While the news of stat-padding certainly comes as no surprise, it has undoubtedly had an impact on the Wizards' underwhelming record thus far. That said, there is no denying that there is plenty of truth to Wall's criticisms.

In typical Washington fashion, they managed to bounce back with a dominant 121-103 win over the formidable Houston Rockets. However, they will need to start capitalizing on their easier matchups in order to get back to the top of the Eastern Conference.
