The Baylor faithful immediately stormed the streets after the Bears captured their first national title at the expense of the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the championship game of the NCAA Tournament on Monday night. After gathering in the university's football field, fans eventually took their celebration a notch higher as they burned a couch and even popped fireworks to commemorate their victory, via Matt Howerton.

The Bears entered the game against the unbeaten Bulldogs as the underdogs. They didn't let the odds hinder them, though, as they took advantage of Gonzaga's unsteadiness, as the Bulldogs were clearly out-of-synch in the championship game.

Bulldogs head coach Mark Few and his men failed to get their shots up as they were only limited to 51% shooting from the field. Their inability to get open looks along with their struggles on defense ultimately favored the Bears as they went on a tear to grab the elusive victory.

Baylor was bannered by Jared Butler who led the team in scoring with 22 points, three rebounds, and seven assists through 31 minutes of action. His backcourt partner in MaCio Teague also played a huge role as he notched 19 points of his own. With an 86-70 victory, the Bears successfully made history as they snagged the first national title of their men's basketball program.

More than the flashy celebration, Baylor fans are hoping that this could be the turning point in the trajectory of their basketball squad as it attempts to put up a good competition against the powerhouse teams in the collegiate ranks in the years to come.
