The Alabama Crimson Tide got off to a terrific start with a huge victory against Miami on Saturday night. New Alabama quarterback Bryce Young was fantastic and, in turn, jumped Spencer Rattler in the latest Heisman Trophy odds.

Unfortunately, Nick Saban's team received some bad news on Monday morning, as linebacker Christopher Allen will be out for the season after having surgery, according to Bruce Feldman. 

Of course, Alabama is always loaded at every position so they certainly have the depth to cope with this loss. On the other hand, Allen led the entire SEC in tackles for loss last season and was expected to be a huge mainstay in the Crimson Tide defense.

So, the loss of Allen is a big one, and Nick Saban eluded to Drew Sanders being the player to step up in Allen's absence, which will likely keep him out for the entire season.

Alabama has a give-me game on Saturday against Mercer, but after that, they face Florida on the road, then a few weeks later play Texas A&M on the road, so things won't be easy for the Crimson Tide.

Just an absolutely brutal loss for Alabama after just one week of the college football season.
