The Brooklyn Nets are just one game back from being in first place in the Eastern Conference. They're currently making their final push for home-court advantage, as they only have 17 games left on the schedule. The roster is absolutely loaded, and they have Steve Nash and Mike D'Antoni drawing up plays.

However, according to Blake Griffin, it's the analytics the Nets utilize that is giving them an edge in nearly every game, per Nets Daily. Not only do the Nets use analytics to their favor, but they're using them in real-time during the games. Griffin provides a quick breakdown.

“It's great. What's really cool is Nash uses an iPad to draw up our plays. He has this software where each player has a little thing and you can move the ball around,” Griffin noted. “Then once he does, he can hit play and then it'll actually do it for him, so you can watch it on the screen. That's the first time I've ever seen that. I thought it was pretty cool that all this technology is being used more in games in real time.”

We truly live in the future. No longer are NBA coaches using a whiteboard, as Steve Nash is using an iPad that will show how something plays out in live-action. This gives the Nets' players an advantage, as they're able to watch a play unfold on the sideline, then replicate it on the court.

“I'll … watch my clips, just to see if I had a bad turnover, if I missed a shot. Or even if I made a shot, sometimes you just want to take a different look at it, because from a different perspective you can see things a little more clearly. Sometimes when you're in the game and everything's moving so quickly, you miss things.”

Making those adjustments during the game has helped the Nets in more ways than one. These superstar players have elevated their play through the help of analytics and live data. We'll see if it pays off, as the Nets are a favorite to win the Championship this year.
