With the Brooklyn Nets down 3-0 in their series against the Boston Celtics, the team announced Sunday that star guard Ben Simmons would not be making his coveted season debut in Game 4. Despite inklings throughout the week that Simmons had been targeting Game 4 in Brooklyn for a return, the Nets have changed course. Noted Simmons criticist Colin Cowherd was eager to throw shade in the direction of the Nets after their decision was announced, and he had a savage tweet at the expense of Simmons after the news broke.

Cowherd didn't hold back when trolling Simmons, calling out the former Sixers star for being unreliable and not even stepping up when his team is on the brink of elimination. With their backs against the wall, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant will look to lead the charge on Monday night against the Celtics in hopes of avoiding elimination.

They were initially expecting to get reinforcements in the form of Simmons, but that plan has apparently been scrapped, putting the Nets at even more of a disadvantage in their hopes of overcoming the 3-0 deficit. Various reports had suggested that Game 4 would be Nets' fans first chance to see Simmons in uniform and on the court, though that won't be the case anymore.

Cowherd is loving the Nets' indecisiveness when it comes to the Simmons situation and couldn't resist the urge to take a jab at the 25-year-old ahead of what could very well be Brooklyn's final game of the season. With Simmons set for the sideline, you can expect Cowherd to have a lot more to say if the Nets are sent packing in Game 4.
