The Brooklyn Nets are set to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday and they'll be getting a much-needed reinforcement back in the lineup. While Kevin Durant is set to return for the Nets, Kyrie Irving will be out again due to personal reasons, per the team's official Twitter account.

Durant has missed the past three games for the Nets due to the NBA's health and safety protocols. During the three games he was sidelined, Brooklyn surprisingly went 2-1, defeating the Philadelphia 76ers and the Utah Jazz in that span.

Before Durant was forced to sit out, he was off to a blazing start in his debut season with the Nets. In the six games he played in, Durant was averaging 28.2 points, seven rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 45.5 percent from outside the arc.

On the other hand, Irving has been absent from Brooklyn's lineup in the past two games due to personal reasons. Irving hasn't played in a game since the unfortunate events that took place at the U.S. Capitol building earlier this week.

While Durant and Irving were out, Caris LeVert saw an expanded role in the offense. However, with Durant rejoining the team, he will likely become the main ball-handler for the Nets until Irving decides to make his return to the court.

Of course, Durant will be facing his former team in the Thunder on Sunday, making him extra motivated to play. In nine career games against Oklahoma City, Durant averages 31.4 points and 8.4 rebounds, which are both career-highs against any one team in his career.
