Brooklyn Nets guard Lonnie Walker IV is expected to miss the team's next seven games due to a left hamstring strain. Walker sat out Brooklyn's win over the Orlando Magic Saturday after injuring his hamstring during Thursday's loss vs. the Charlotte Hornets.

Head coach Jacque Vaughn said Tuesday that Walker will not travel with the Nets for Wednesday's road matchup with the Atlanta Hawks and is trending towards missing an upcoming five-game West Coast trip.

“He will not travel with us to Atlanta, and all signs pointing towards him not playing on the West Coast trip and [us] having some more information about that after we get back,” Vaughn said.

The extended absence presents a significant blow to the Nets' seventh-ranked bench unit. Walker has emerged as one of the NBA's top bench scorers after signing for the minimum. The 24-year-old is averaging a career-high 14.6 points per game on 48.9 percent shooting from the field and 43.3 percent from three. He leads the NBA in scoring among players averaging 24 or fewer minutes.

After an injury scare during a Nov. 12 win over the Washington Wizards, Walker revealed he has been dealing with a painful left knee ailment since Brooklyn's second game of the year. However, he would not expand on the nature of the injury.

“My knee has just been sore since game two and in a lot of pain. Just been playing through it for the most part, damn near playing on one leg,” he said. “I don’t feel obligated (to play through pain) but I know I gotta do it for my team. If I have the ability to still run and jump and do things, no matter how sore I am, no matter how hurt I am, I’m gonna give it 110 percent. If I can’t go, that means I literally am dying at that point.”

It's unclear if the two injuries are correlated. With Walker sidelined, Dennis Smith Jr. and Trendon Watford could be in line for extended backcourt minutes.

Dorian Finney-Smith was a full participant in Brooklyn's practice Tuesday after sitting out vs. Orlando due to right foot/knee soreness. Finney-Smith is averaging a career-high 11.0 points per game on 45.4 percent shooting from three this season.
