Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets straight up mopped the floor with the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night. So much so that Los Angeles Lakers icon Magic Johnson was confident enough to crown them the kings of the Eastern Conference already.

Magic tweeted out after the game, as he is wont to do, in full confidence of KD and Co.

“Tonight the Nets proved that they are the team to beat in the East with their blowout victory over the Sixers!” said Magic Johnson minutes after the game ended.

It might be a little early to dub them the Eastern Conference's biggest threat. One lopsided game isn't a great sample size and given the stakes involved when it came to Ben Simmons' return to Philly, it wasn't without external factors that won't exactly apply to each and every game going forward.

With not just the Sixers, but also rock solid teams like the dangerously deep Miami Heat and the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks in the fold, the Nets won't be having a cakewalk to the NBA Finals coming out of the East. Nor will they have home-court advantage against any of the marquee teams they're likely to face

They're also still several games behind the sixth-place Cleveland Cavaliers for a guaranteed spot in the postseason, which will force them to participate in the play-in tournament. That means an extra game on their workload and even the potential to get booted prematurely if another play-in team pulls off an upset.

Still, when the stars align for this Brooklyn Nets squads, they're clearly one of the toughest to beat on an NBA floor. If health holds up and the Nets do make the postseason, safe to say nobody will be raring to match up against them in the earlier rounds.
