A fan on Twitter told Spencer Dinwiddie that the New York Knicks can sneak by into the playoffs. The Brooklyn Nets guard wasn't having any of it, reiterating his belief that the Nets are the best team in New York.

In 2018-19, Brooklyn made the postseason for the first time in three years, while the Knicks placed last in the Eastern Conference with a franchise-low 17-65 record and missed the playoffs for the 6th consecutive year.

The Nets hit the jackpot in this year's free agency by signing both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant to four year deals. This instantly makes them contenders over the next few seasons.

However, the injury to Kevin Durant will put their championship hopes on hold. He is already set to miss the entire 2019-20 season to rehabilitate his ruptured Achilles.

The Knicks, on the other hand, struck out on their majestic plans during the summer. Strike one came when they lucked out on the Zion Williamson sweepstakes and instead ended up with the 3rd overall pick in the 2019 draft, which they used to select R.J. Barrett. Strikes two and three came when their top two free agency targets, Durant and Irving, crossed the bridge over to Brooklyn and signed with their city rival Nets.

Even without Durant for the entire season, the Nets should still make the playoffs with their loaded roster led by the enigmatic Irving. Dinwiddie should serve the same role he had last season as the Nets' first man off the bench, playing behind the very man he recruited so hard over the summer.
