Kyrie Irving ruffled a few feathers with his recent comments about his struggles with the COVID-19 vaccine mandate this season. The Brooklyn Nets guard had missed majority of the NBA season as he was barred from playing in home games, and didn't play at all until halfway into the campaign.

He recently talked about his experience during a recent appearance on Kevin Durant's The ETCs podcast. The Nets point guard was open on his struggles and thoughts on how it all went down.

“I was not expecting a mandate to be brought down in a way where it wasn’t going to let me play at all,” Irving told Gonzalez. “I had the opportunity to play away games still but there was no plan in place, there was no vision of how it was going to work for our team. And I think that not only impacted not just me, but a lot of people. Just had to sit in that hot seat for a little bit and deal with it. The life of a martyr, bro.”

One man who was clearly not a fan of Kyrie Irving's take was outspoken NBA personality Stephen A. Smith. He called out the Nets guard and insinuated that his actions weren't enough to validate his personal beliefs.

“We got people that are still unemployed in New York City because of the mandate,” Stephen A. Smith said on the Nets star's comments. “If you really wanted to make some noise you would’ve said to hell with that, I don’t give a damn if I can come back, I’mma stand with them.”

It's more than likely that Kyrie Irving will catch wind of Stephen A. Smith's comments, but whether or not the Nets star responds to the callout remains to be seen.
