Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash had a hilarious reaction when he found out that his squad successfully ended an 18-year losing streak in San Antonio. To his surprise, the Nets hadn't won against the Spurs on their home floor since 2003 until they finally carved out an overtime victory on Monday night, via Anthony Puccio.

The last Nets win in San Antonio dated back to Game 2 of the 2003 NBA Finals, which saw New Jersey emerge victorious against the Spurs in an 87-85 triumph. However, the Spurs eventually ruled the series with a 4-2 victory as they went on to clinch their second title in the Tim Duncan era.

Almost two decades later, a new-look Nets squad finally got the franchise off the schneid. The contribution of Nets star James Harden was pivotal as he notched 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 15 assists for his team.

His running mate in Kyrie Irving tallied 27 points, six rebounds, and seven assists to fill in the void left by Kevin Durant, who is still nursing a hamstring injury and is out through the All-Star break. Despite a resilient fight from the Spurs, head coach Steve Nash and his men still escaped with a 124-113 overtime victory in San Antonio.

With the win, the Nets are now sitting in the second spot of the Eastern Conference with a 23-13 record. Steve Nash's reaction was certainly fitting given it's almost unimaginable for a franchise to have that long of a losing streak on a particular opponent's home floor.

At the same time, it further implied that the Nets are already a different squad this season and are capable of attaining a greater level of success moving forward. Brooklyn might not have the best record in the East, but the club is certainly looking like the team to beat.
