Barring a very surprising development, the Brooklyn Nets will want to forget the 2022 NBA playoffs. They look totally outmatched against the Boston Celtics with both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving struggling big-time and Ben Simmons sitting on the sideline. The Nets could be adding an All-Star to their lineup for their next game but it might not make a difference.

Simmons has targeted Game 4, which will take place in Brooklyn on Monday night, as his return date from a back injury. He has yet to make his Nets debut since being traded there over two months ago. They need him now more than ever.

After going through workouts with no setbacks, nets head coach Steve Nash said that it will be up to Simmons to decide if he will play in Game 4.

Simmons would be helpful if fully healthy. The Nets could use him to guard Tatum and set up Durant and Irving on offense. Sadly for them, the odds that he is 100 percent are grim. He also has a history of underperforming in the postseason. After only getting attention for his flashy outfit in Game 3, Ben Simmons owes it to his team to play.

Coming back from a 3-0 deficit, which has never happened in the NBA playoffs, is unfathomable. If Simmons is motivated to get back and helps his teammates improve, it just might be in the cards for the Nets. At the very least, they should be able to delay the inevitable.
