The Toronto Raptors have emerged as one of a handful of teams that appear to be in serious contention for Brooklyn Nets want-away superstar Kevin Durant. This could be in part because of the fact that KD himself indicated many years ago that he wanted to play in Toronto, but also because of the Raptors' willingness to engage in a potential blockbuster deal.

One player the Raptors are very much unwilling to include in a trade package is reigning Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes. For their part, the Nets are reportedly adamant about their desire to snag the former Florida State standout in a potential deal.

This report comes via NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN (h/t TSN on Twitter):

“Toronto doesn't want to part with Scottie Barnes. That's their stance,” Woj said. “Brooklyn right now wouldn't consider a deal without Scottie Barnes.”

No wonder these two teams are at an impasse right now. The Raptors are unwilling to part ways with Scottie Barnes — and rightfully so — while the Nets see him as a non-negotiable in a potential KD trade package. Until one of these teams budges, then nothing is likely to materialize.

This is the harsh reality Kevin Durant is facing right now. He's one of the biggest superstars in the league today, and the Nets are demanding a haul that is commensurate to his status. At this point, it doesn't sound like any team in the league is willing (or able) to match Brooklyn's extremely high valuation of the former league MVP.
