ESPN insider Stephen A. Smith says NBA execs are telling him star small forward Kevin Durant will probably end up with the Brooklyn Nets this summer.

Durant becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason once he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Golden State Warriors. The Nets have cap space to sign two max contract players and could land both Durant and Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving.

The Nets have a brighter future than the New York Knicks with general manager Sean Marks and head coach Kenny Atkinson leading the franchise. Brooklyn made the playoffs this season, while the Knicks finished with the worst record in the league.

Durant is represented by Roc Nation Sports, which was founded by rapper Jay Z. Jay Z sold his stake in the Nets back in 2013 because he wasn't allowed to be an NBA owner while representing NBA players. The rap legend, though, could get in the ear of Durant and persuade him to sign with the Nets.

Many believe if the Nets get Durant and Irving, they would be the front runner to win the Eastern Conference next season. Brooklyn fans are hoping Stephen A. Smith's sources are right about this one.
