Rumors of a vastly superior Nintendo Switch circulated late last month after a few eager players data-minted the latest Switch games. Several gaming journalists compiled every rumor and hearsay about the upcoming Switch upgrade. At the time, most of the details only served to generate false hope and excitement. Leaks can never be equated to actual facts. Nothing comes close to generating actual hype than real announcements from developers. Nintendo still remains mum on the subject but a recent report by Bloomberg could potentially point towards a more realistic “Nintendo Switch XL.”

OLED SCREEN AND MORE

Bloomberg reports that Nintendo plans to unveil the upgraded Switch sometime soon and make it ready in time for the 2021 holidays. The Switch XL will allegedly featuring a 7-inch, 720p resolution OLED panel from Samsung. Nintendo hopes to receive the new panels by June before its assembly.

The new OLED screen for the Switch will offer better contrast and deeper blacks for all functions. The new panel will also allegedly consume less battery power.

Fans have speculated and hoped for a vastly superior Switch since the announcement of fellow-next-generation consoles, the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S. The Switch still remains one of the strongest home consoles in the market to date despite its 4-year old hardware. However, the promise of a vastly upgraded iteration may increase their market position even more.

Nintendo repeatedly claims that it's not announcing a new console anytime soon. However, given the recent launch of the first batch of next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft, we can expect Nintendo to put its best foot forward.
