Laviska Shenault has cemented himself as one of the best wide receiver prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he may have a hiccup in his draft process. Following a strong showing in Indianapolis, Shenault is going to undergo surgery after the NFL Combine.

The surgery that Shenault is receiving is to help with a core injury that lingered throughout the 2019 season. The Colorado receiver was hoping that the injury would subside without needing surgery. But after working out at the NFL Combine, Shenault was hindered by the injury.

Despite being injured, Shenault chose to run the 40-yard dash and bench press. In the end, the physical pass-catcher ran a 4.58 40-yard dash and was able to rep 225-pounds 17 times on Thursday.

With Shenault undergoing surgery soon, he hopes to be ready for rookie minicamp for whatever team selects him in the 2020 NFL Draft. Even with the injury concern, Shenault could still be selected in the first round.

In his final season at Colorado, Shenault recorded 56 receptions for 764 yards and four touchdowns. However, his 2018 season is a vital reason why he is regarded as a coveted prospect in this year's draft.

Besides proving he is a talented wideout, Shenault flashed ability as a runner with the ball in his hands. From 2018-2019, Shenault was utilized as a rusher and carried it 40 times for 276 yards. Above all, he was able to score seven rushing touchdowns.

Depending on the severity of his injury, teams will likely still view Shenault as a first-round prospect. At the least, it's best that Shenault is getting the surgery now rather than wait until the regular season.
