Former NFL legend Terrell Owens made headlines for declining his invite to the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. It seems his decision did not sit well with fellow Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter.

Owens stated that he has chosen to celebrate the occasion elsewhere with those closest to him. Carter made it clear with a post on Twitter that he is not losing any sleep over his expected absence:

“Terrell isn’t going to be enshrined in Canton, I’m even more excited to attend the PFHOF weekend now,” Carter wrote.

To clear up Carter's words, Owens will still be enshrined, he just will not take part in the ceremony. This is not the first time these two legends have exchanged words. Carter has called Owens out for the charismatic persona he displayed during his career. Owens shot back by comparing their career numbers and even questioned Carter's legitimacy of being enshrined. That said, it appears there is still no love lost between these two legendary wideouts.

The reasoning behind Owens' decision is still rather unclear. However, one cannot help but wonder if it has anything to do with being snubbed in his first two years of eligibility. There are very few receivers in history with comparable numbers to Owens. Yet, his tumultuous relationship with the media seemingly kept him from being a first-ballot selection.

It could also have to do with the fact that Owens is still attempting to make a comeback. Needless to say, reminiscing on the old playing days is hard to do when one does not even realize they are over. Regardless, Carter can take solace in the fact that he will not have to worry about rubbing shoulder with Owens any time soon.
