Prospects have spent the last several months doing what they can to increase their stock for the 2019 NFL Draft. It seems Missouri quarterback Drew Lock is more concerned with where he ultimately ends up.

Lock has established himself as one of the more notable quarterback prospects in this year's draft. According to Don Banks of NFL.com, would not mind learning from an established, veteran quarterback:

“I’d 100 percent rather go 32nd to the right team than No. 1 to a bad team,’’ Lock said. “If that happened [being drafted by the Patriots], I’d be honored for sure. Tom’s obviously there for a couple more years, but to be able to sit behind a guy like that and learn from one of the best quarterbacks of all time — if not the best — I think that’s an ideal situation for any quarterback.’’

There is certainly plenty of intrigue to Lock's comments. Quarterbacks are usually accustomed to trying to get drafted as early as possible, however, it appears there are some that would not mind taking some time to develop their skill set.

This approach has proven to be quite effective in recent years. The biggest example being Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He spent his entire rookie campaign learning from veteran quarterback Alex Smith and it paid huge dividends for him and the Chiefs after leading them to the AFC Conference Championship en route to MVP honors.

Top-rated quarterbacks are usually considered to be surefire first-rounders. Regardless, it is clear Lock is ultimately hoping to land in a system that fits him best.
