Experienced former NFL coach Jim Caldwell falsified reports that he denied interviews with two NFL teams. He tweeted the following statement Saturday morning:

“I would like to correct an erroneous report that I turned down opportunities to interview for the head coaching job with Minnesota and Las Vegas. Those reports are not true. I have profound respect for both organizations and for the Wilf and Davis families and I did not decline any opportunity to interview with them.”

The original report came from a tweet from ProFootballTalk Saturday morning, which ClutchPoints then shared.

Caldwell did not mention reports that he interviewed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Chicago Bears, who are looking for a head coach for the 2022 season.

The former NFL coach has been to the Super Bowl once as a head coach with the Indianapolis Colts. As an assistant coach, Caldwell has won two Super Bowl championships with the Colts (Super Bowl LVI) and the Baltimore Ravens (Super Bowl XLVII).

He has been on the coaching staff of five different NFL teams: Colts, Ravens, Detroit Lions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Miami Dolphins. The last time Caldwell was an NFL head coach was with the Lions from 2014 to 2017. Caldwell last coached in the league as the Dolphins' assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach in 2019.
